Surprise check turns shocker: Vacant chairs, 80 missing babus at Venkaiah Naidu’s ministry
New Delhi: Urban Development Minister Venakaiah Naidu came face-to-face with a harsh reality when he made a surprise visit to the ministry’s office, Nirman Bhawan on Monday at 10 am.
The minister was shocked to see that none of the senior staff had reported to work and even the junior staff wasn’t present during office hours.
Taking serious note of the matter, Naidu has ordered that show-cause notices be sent to the 80 absentees.
Media reports indicate that the minister has also proposed the installation of biometric attendance system to ensure that the staff adheres to timings.
He had also urged senior official to keep a tab on regular latecomers.
Last month, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar had conducted a similar check and acted against officials who were taking things easy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also inspected the chambers of his officers in the PMO, soon after he took charge.
