In Mumbai and Delhi, Hilal Committee meetings are underway
Mumbai: The Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Bihar and West Bengal on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 after the Eid moon was sighted in parts of the two states in India. The respective Hilal committees announced on Monday after the Magrhib prayers.
"The new moon has been sighted in some parts of Bihar, accordingly Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated here on Tuesday", Mohammad Wali Rehmani of Khanqah Rehmania, Munger, reportedly said.
He also said that the new moon of Shawwal month (Arabic month followed by Ramadan) is also sighted in villages near Kolkata.
In Maharashtra and major parts of Hyderabad the atmosphere is cloudy due to which the followers were unable to sight the Moon.
In Mumbai and Delhi, Hilal Committee meetings are underway. A formal announcement when the Eid will be celebrated in India is expected shortly.
On Monday Muslims around the Arab world including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait and Jordan, the United States of America (USA), Europe and Bangladesh celebrated Eid ul-Fitr, a holiday marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
