Two drug peddlers held, 100 kg ganja seized

Police also seized three mobile phones from accused

Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) have seized 100 kg of ganja and arrested two drug peddlers after intercepting a car near Hosakote early Sunday.

The arrested have been identified as S Muttu (25) and Samir-ullah-Sherief (25), both from Hosakote. The contraband, worth Rs 35 lakh, was stored in four sacks. The police also seized three mobile phones from them.

Acting on a tip-off that a large consignment of narcotics was being brought into the city from Andhra Pradesh, the sleuths from Women and Narcotics Wing of Central Crime Branch (CCB) intercepted the car. “There was another consignment of ganja being transported in another car, but the peddlers diverted the vehicle and escaped,” said an officer.

During preliminary investigations it was revealed that the duo had received the consignment near Andhra Pradesh border from two traders Narasimha and Sudhakar Reddy, hailing from Kurnool.
