Letter to Mumbai cops threatens Gaza revenge
Mumbai: The Mumbai police control room has received a bomb threat letter, seemingly directed towards police commissioner Rakesh Maria, on Friday, announcing terror attacks in the city the same day in retaliation for the ongoing bombings in Gaza.
The general alert level in the city has been heightened with the ATS, crime branch, the state intelligence department and the police station level anti-terror cells are keeping a tight vigil in all areas.
Confirming the incident, Mr Maria said, “The letter, handwritten written in both English and Hindi was received via post by the police control room on July 25 in which it was threatened that there would terror strikes in the city as a revenge for the Gaza attacks. It was signed ‘Suicide Mujahideen’ in the end. Mumbai has always been on alert, but we have intensified our preparedness. The authenticity of the letter is also being verified.”
The letter promised serial blasts in the Jewish Synagogue between the first and the last Azaan of Friday along with challenging Mr Maria to crack the case.
