Original 'Kick' director disappointed with Salman Khan's Hindi remake
As Salman Khan’s Kick inches closer to the epic Rs 150-crore mark, the movie has found perhaps its most direct critic Telugu director Surender Reddy, who directed the original.
Two days after Sallu’s film hit cinemas (last Friday) the “disappointed” director took to Facebook, slamming the Hindi version of the film for not understanding the “true spirit” of the Telugu hit.
“Watched the Hindi remake of Kick. It definitely does not do justice to our original movie or to Salman. Kick would have been the biggest movie ever for Salman if the makers understood the spirit of Kick.”
A 2009 flick, Telugu’s Kick was one of actor Ravi Teja’s biggest hits. The makers, including Reddy who had written the script, had sold the rights to Bollywood for an undisclosed sum.
