Venkaiah Nadu denies accusations on BJP trying to influence Speaker

‘They say that the Attorney General is trying to please his political masters’

New Delhi: Union Minister of Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday has denied Congress leader Kamal Nath's accusation that the Speaker's decisions are influenced by the ruling party.

Naidu said, "Government has made no changes and has never intervened in the Speaker's work. I don't know what favors he is talking about."

He also condemned the accusations made by Ananda Sharma, the Deputy Leader of Congress in Rajya Sabha, that the Bharatiya Janata Party is pressurizing the Speaker of the house.

Naidu also spoke on the "blame-everything" attitude adopted by the Congress party.

"They blame Attorney General and accuse him of being politically influenced, they also say that he is trying to please his political masters. They should realise that an Attorney General is one of the senior most legal officials in the country," he added.

When asked about the matter of Sania Mirza, Naidu said, "Sania Mirza is a great tennis player and no one has questioned it including my colleagues."
