Telangana bus mishap: 8-year-old Ruchita saw danger, pushed two kids out from bus to safety
Hyderabad: Eight-year-old Ruchita Goud is the only child from the tragic bus who remembers shouting at the driver, asking him to steer away from the fast-approaching train.
“But he was talking on the phone and didn’t hear me at all,” she recalls. But little Ruchita held her nerves and even as the train sped towards her school bus, she saved the lives of three-year-old Sadbhavan Das and four-year-old Mahipal Reddy, who she threw out of the vehicle, through the windows.

But sadly, she could not lift her seven-year-old brother Varun, who’s now fighting for his life, with critical injuries. Ruchita survived too, by jumping out of the window and is now recovering from a fracture and wounds to the head. She remains the only one out of 13 children who are in stable condition, with any kind of memory about the accident. The rest, don’t remember anything.
A senior nurse said, “Ruchita is a very alert child, so we are not discussing the condition of her brother in front of her. Varun is on a ventilator and when he was brought into the emergency ward, he had already suffered two heart attacks.
