M V Mysoora Reddy wants capital panel to meet all parties
Hyderabad: Senior YSR Congress leader M.V. Mysoora Reddy objected to the TD government setting up a parallel committee, with industrialists as members, for finding a new capital.
“The members of the Sivaramakrishnan committee met the Chief Minister alone without taking others into confidence. This is not correct,” he said. The YSRC leader demanded that the expert committee, headed by former urban development secretary K.C. Sivaramakrishnan should hold discussions with all political parties and stakeholders and tour all districts in the state before giving its recommendations for the location of a capital.
“Contrary to this, the expert committee met only TD functionaries, giving us an impression that it intends to complete the whole exercise as a mere formality,” Dr Mysoora Reddy said.
He further added that the AP government advisory panel members dropped hints about a particular “ideal location” jacking up price of land and such statements are likely to influence the committee.
He said the advisory committee, which has no experts, but only industrialists, are making comments to benefit only realtors and syndicates and influence the Central committee.
“The TD government is trying to acquire private land to benefit some leaders and this could prove to be a costly affair. Only commercial benefits are being considered over other factors,” he alleged. The AP ministers are saying that the new capital will be like Singapore or Putrajaya of Malaysia. “How is it possible to build such cities on private land?” he asked.
