Land for Port to be bought soon

Over 5,300 acres of land was required, of which 2,400 acres are available

Machilipatnam: Excise minister Kollu Ravindra on Saturday said that the government will start the land acquisition process for Machilipatnam Port soon. The minister told the media that over 5,300 acres of land was required for the port, of which 2,400 acres are available.

He added that the government was looking at a proposal to extend the railway tracks from Machilipatnam to Repalle. He added that the Machilipatnam National Highway would also be widened soon. The government would lay the pipeline from Vijayawada to Machilipatnam at a cost of Rs 350 crore, part of the oil refinery project, he said.
