KOZHIKODE: A 13-year-old girl here tried to commit suicide after being repeatedly raped by her own father, his friend and her 18-year-old lover. The 9th standard student of a city high school consumed rat poison in her school along with a girl friend, who also faced similar harassment at home, and they have been admitted to the medical college hospital where they are recuperating, police said.
Initially, the 13-year-old girl did not divulge the details of domestic rape to anyone. But the woman circle inspector, who was in mufti, had seen the girl shouting at her father and telling him that she would slap him on the face if he came to the hospital to meet her. The CI talked to her and extracted the details.
The father and her boyfriend were arrested on charges of rape. The 35-year-old friend of the father is absconding. The boyfriend had raped her at a shed in Pantheerankavu.
She told the police that from her 4th standard onwards when she was nine, her father, an alcoholic, had been raping her. The girl, hailing from a poor background, had lost her mother at an early age and had been living with her father, grandmother and brother. Her stepmother had also moved out of their house after quarrelling with her husband, police said.
