Sania Mirza sure CM K Chandrasekhar Rao will take Telangana sport forward
Hyderabad: Dusting the latest row off, Sania Mirza vowed to justify her role as Telangana brand ambassador. “I am humbled. I will work with the state government to popularise Telangana in the world,” she said.
Earlier, speaking to reporters, Sania rued tennis missing from the ongoing Commonwealth Games.
“It’s sad that tennis is not a part of the Games this time. I would have really loved to be in Glasgow after the good experience of playing in Delhi four years ago I had won a couple of medals there.”
“Today, India has won some medals. Congratulations. I hope we will break records,” she said.
Reacting to a question on badminton star Saina Nehwal’s tweet that she is yet to receive the cash prize (Rs 50 lakh) announced by the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh government for winning the Olympic bronze in 2012, Sania said, “I hope she gets what she deserves because she has done so much for the country and state. I am sure, with a CM like ours, we are moving forward.”
“I am happy to know that Sania Mirza has become the brand ambassador of Telangana and I am proud of Telangana, but I am very hurt and sad that I have still not received the cash award from my (erstwhile) state for the Olympics bronze medal that I won for my country,” Saina had tweeted on Thursday.
