No heads for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh PCBs

The task force of the board is doing nothing to control pollution

Hyderabad: The pollution control boards (PCB) of both AP and Telangana are now headless.

While AP is yet to appoint a member secretary for its PCB, the member secretary of Telangana PCB, Mr Sanjay Kumar, has been given full additional charge as resident commissioner of Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi. As resident commissioner, Sanjay has to stay for at least three days a week in New Delhi.

The granting of new licenses and renewal of existing ones have stopped since the last two months. The task force of the board is doing nothing to control pollution.

On being asked why lower rung officials are not continuing their work which they have been doing so far, a senior official said, “There are over 260 staffers in undivided PCB who are yet to be assigned to the state they should work for. And they will not work till they are assigned as member secretaries may work in different directions.”
