Project Monitoring Group fixes time to end Hydrabad Metro project row

Hyderabad: Project Monitoring Group chairman Anil Swarup on Friday said that timelines have been fixed to resolve issues related to the Hyderabad Metro Rail project.

The work of over Rs 15,000-crore metro rail project got stuck at places after Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao asked L&T Metro to take the metro line underground or change the alignment to protect some heritage places in the city such as Sultan Bazaar, Assembly and Mozzamjahi Market. L&T, however, was reportedly against any realignment.

Without elaborating, Mr Swarup said there are about seven or eight issues related to alignment of route, land acquisition among others to be resolved in a time bound manner.

Mr Swarup was in Hyderabad to launch the state-level investment tracking portal for Andhra Pradesh government here at Fapcci. AP is the 13th state to launch the online project monitoring portal. The Telangana government, he said, is planning to launch its state-level online tracking portal in a month’s time.
