No pay for 25 united Andhra Pradesh employees
Hyderabad: Around 25 employees recruited in 1995 and in 2007 by the undivided AP Assembly have not been getting salaries after bifurcation due to the confusion regarding their service as well as to which Legislature they belong to.
Most of the 25, who had been recruited when K.R. Suresh Reddy was the Speaker of the undivided AP Assembly, have not yet received salaries for June. The employees had been recruited on regular pay scales and given postings as office subordinates, MCDRs, photocopy machine operators, chowkidars and cycle orderlies.
But after the bifurcation of AP, they were not provisionally allocated to either of the states. However, their services are being commonly used by both the Legislatures. On Wednesday, the employees went to meet the AP Legislature Secretary to represent their case. But they were told to meet his Telangana counterpart, Mr Sadaaram, as he had been the secretary of the undivided Legislature.
The employees met the concerned official and told him that they were willing to work for Telangana as they all belonged to the region. However, they could not get an assurance from Mr Sadaaram, and are now planning to meet Telangana Chief Minister, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
"When the chief minister promises to regularise the services of all contract employees working in Telangana, what about us? We have been working here, but now we are told that we are nobody. This is atrocious," said an employee.
A senior official of Telangana Legislature said, "These employees were not allotted to either state. So there is confusion now which state should use their services. A political decision needs to be taken regarding this."
