Visakhapatnam: The Vizag Agency has been witnessing devastation due to heavy rains coupled with strong winds for the last couple of days.
Paderu, Anantagiri, and G. Madugula mandals suffered huge damages due to the gale. There was no power in most areas in these mandals. Many areas in Paderu town still have no power supply. Trees and electric poles were uprooted on the ghat road disrupting traffic.
Though the Agency farmers were waiting for the rains, they failed to benefit from it due to the strong winds and overflowing canals.
In Anantagiri mandal, power and communication systems were disrupted in the villages. The roof of a boys’ residential school was blown off.
Moreover, a huge tree was uprooted and it came crashing down on the premises of a girls’ school. Luckily there were no students around on Tuesday. Three women received injuries and were shifted to S. Kota primary health centre for treatment.
