Parents not too keen on taking kids out of school
Kakinada: The Green Field School correspondent had brutally beaten up the three visually impaired children allegedly because they had refused to eat their food on the night of July 16 and were also found “fiddling” with the washing machine.
Following the instructions of the National Child Rights Commission, the District Child Welfare Committee, led by its chairman Y. Sivanadh, conducted an inquiry on Tuesday.
The committee met the victims as well as other children in the school.
Meanwhile, Rajiv Vidya Mission project officer V. Chakradhar and mandal education officer Vijayalaxmi convened a parents’ meeting on Tuesday. The parents said that the government should take over the school and run it in a proper manner.
Sources said that a majority of the parents are not keen on getting their children out of the school. They want their children to be in the school, but want the government to run it.
P. Kumari, the mother of one of the victims called Sai, said that she did not know if her son would be able to continue in the school. She said she can’t send him to the school under present circumstances. However, she also added that her family cannot afford to give good education to the child. She too said that the government should take over the school.
Ramana, the mother of Surendra, said that she only got to know of the incident after seeing it on television. Along with her husband Sankar, Ms Ramana reached Guntur on Tuesday.
The parents of the children are at Government General Hospital where the children are being treated.
