Doom is now back in action
Hyderabad: After numerous rumours, delays and re-writes, id Software has finally revealed the next game in the famous Doom franchise. Shown at QuakeCon 2014, it will be simply called Doom and not Doom 4, hinting at a possible re-creation of the series.
Doom will be set on Mars as players try to defend the massive UAC research facility from the forces of hell. This new project will feature fast action, run-and-gun, and creative combat.
To illustrate how Doom is becoming much faster, players will have to frequently utilise double jumps and jetpacks during combat. It is also said to feature classic Doom guns and players will be able to carry a large arsenal of weapons, differentiating itself from all major first person shooters currently in the market.
The game will include more blood and gore than ever before. Rather than reinventing the FPS genre, Wolfenstein and now Doom are going back to its origin. With emphasis on fast paced combat, they are trying to take the trend away from modern military shooters and make the gameplay more action oriented.
The game is aiming to run at 1080p and 60FPS on all three platforms, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One but the release date hasn’t been announced yet.
