Fee displays help parents in Hyderabad
Schools violating norms would be penalised 10 times the capitation fee

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad District administration has started displaying the “fixed fee structure” of each school at the school’s premises to curb charging of exorbitant fees. The hoardings also display phone numbers of concerned officials with a note asking the parents to complain if the school management collects more than the fees mentioned.
This move has come as a relief to parents who have been apprehensive about the fees that have been rising every year. “The private educational institutions were fleecing parents in the name of donations and other facilities as there was no proper monitoring by the departments concerned. Schools and colleges also lacked playgrounds. With the display of the fee structure, we will at least be assured that we are not paying more than what we are supposed to. At the same time, we can choose schools based on their fee structure and facilities,” said Durga Bahadur, a parent.
The Hyderabad district administration is also in the process of printing booklets, which would contain the fee structures of the schools and the figures will also be updated on the official website. Over 1,000 booklets have been already printed.
“The schools cannot charge more than the mention fee structure which incorporates everything including the school fees, lab, sports etc. The violating school will be penalised 10 times the capitation fee and could also lose recognition,” said Hyderabad district Collector Mr Mukesh Kumar Meena.
