‘Missing’ MP Hema Malini angers Mathura
Lucknow: The prolonged absence of bollywood actor-turned-politician and BJP MP Hema Malini from her constituency Mathura seems to have angered her voters who have now put up ‘missing’ posters in the city.
The people of Mathura also burnt an effigy of their MP on NH-2 to register their protest against her absence. After winning the recent Lok Sabha polls from Mathura, the yesteryear ‘Dream Girl’ visited her constituency just once, in the second week of June, that too for one day.
“We were warned that it would be a folly to vote for a Bollywood star, since the stars are never serious about nurturing their constituency but we thought that since Hema Malini was a senior person, she would be different. But she has proved us wrong and her detractors right,” said Rajiv Gosain, a priest in a temple. Even local BJP leaders said that they had no contact with the MP.
