Voters being wooed ahead of civic polls
Hyderabad: Months before the civic elections in November, the GHMC corporators are going all out to woo voters by taking up beautification works. Lanes and by lanes that had been damaged for years, are now being repaired and parks and playgrounds are getting facelifts.
Corporators have also begun interacting with resident welfare association members. The recently sanctioned funds for all 150 wards are helping them take up the beautification projects.
Citizens say that the corporators are now answering their calls and are lending an ear to their grievances. Venkateshwar Reddy, resident of Malkajgiri said, “Certain areas here get drinking water once in 10 days, street dogs menace is rampant, the lanes and by-lanes are damaged and the developing colonies lack infrastructure. All these years, the corporators had been neglecting their areas. Moreover, when we tried to meet them, we got no appointments. However, suddenly, inspections are taking place and some ground work has begun."
