No industrial land in Krishna-Guntur

APIIC does not have any land left in capital zone; plots available in Visakhapatnam

Hyderabad: The AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation has no land or industrial plots to offer in the proposed capital zone of Krishna-Guntur and surrounding districts despite several industrialists asking for land for setting up firms in Andhra.

APIIC officials in Vijayawada, Guntur, Kakinada, Rajahmundry and most parts of AP say that they have been receiving enquiries from industrialists asking for land in and around the cities but nothing is left. Only plots allotted for SC/STs are available for which there are no takers from these communities.

However, vacant plots are available in Visakhapatnam, Nellore and Chittoor districts in the industrial parks of APIIC. APIIC Kakinada zonal manager A. Krishna Murthy said, “Post bifurcation, we have been receiving several enquiries from industrialists, mostly Hyderabad based, asking for land for setting up their firms. But we don’t have any plot to offer. In Vakalpudi, only 25 plots are available and in Peeddapuram the remaining plots are reserved for SC/ST Communities. But there are no takers from these communities,” he said, adding “Most of them are asking for vacant plots and land in industrial parks in and around Kakinada but we are helpless.”

In Vijayawada-Guntur too the situation is similar, according to APIIC officials.

A top official of APIIC said, “In all the old industrial parks, the leftover vacant plots are registered for SC/ST communities. The government had earlier issued orders in this regard. In Vijayawada, Guntur, Kakinada and Prakasam, we do not have any availability. But in Visakhapatnam we have 5,000 acres of land, 2,500 acres in Nellore and 2,000 acres in Chittoor district.”
