Beas tragedy: Bodies of two victims reach home
Hyderabad: The six-week agonising wait of the parents of two students, who drowned in the Beas river in Himachal Pradesh, ended on Monday. When the bodies of K. Rishitha Reddy and D. Srinidhi, both second-year students of VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology, were brought home.
Rishitha’s parents were inconsolable when the body reached their house in Bachupally. “Her favourite colour was pink, so we called her Pinky. She was so cheerful and crazy about Facebook games. She used to flood our FB accounts with frequent game requests,” recalled her close friend and a survivor C. Khetan Kumar.
Srinidhi, of Rekurthi mandal of Karimnagar, was one of the studious students in her class. “She used to help us with our projects. Even when we would all have fun, she would ensure that the group tasks were completed,” said Khetan. Survivors said that Srinidhi would have survived had she not gone back into the water to retrieve her chappals behind the rock.
