Andhra Pradesh removes Hundi from Secretariat

Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao ordered officials to immediately remove hundi

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has removed the hundi, that was placed in the Secretariat, after drawing flak from various sections.

On the advice of the finance department, the endowments department had placed a hundi in L Block of the Secretariat on Saturday to collect donations for “construction of the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh.” But the decision was widely criticised. Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao ordered officials to immediately remove the hundi.

The finance department had planned to set up three hundis — at the Secretariat, at the Chief Minister’s camp office and one at his residence — to mobilise the funds from public.
