JD(U) to tie up with RJD for state bypolls

JD(U) gave the go ahead for the alliance with RJD for the Bihar assembly polls next month

Patna: The state executive committee of Bihar’s ruling JD(U) on Sunday gave the go-ahead for the party’s alliance with the RJD for next month’s Assembly bypolls for 10 seats and agreed in principle for a formal alliance with the RJD for next year’s state Assembly polls.

The issue of JD(U)-RJD alliance cropped up at the meeting attended by Nitish Kumar and Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, among other senior leaders, but the JD(U) appeared defensive in declaring a formal alliance so soon. “We are certainly going to have an arrangement with the RJD, but it is no such thing as an alliance yet. We cannot deny that our relations with them have grown in recent past. We are ready to take all steps to defeat the BJP’s machinations for Bihar,” said JD(U) state president Vashistha Narayan Singh .
