Rupees 300 Tirumala darshan queue shut by noon, devotees protest
Tirupati: Devotees protested and fought with officials of the TTD for closing the Rs 300 queue lines as they spend hours waiting in them.
With the surge of devotees continuing atop the hill shrine on Sunday and the limited number of tickets issued to devotees under the Rs 300 special entry tickets getting exhausted by afternoon, the TTD announced the closure of the counters in as per the practice.
However, the impatient devotees who could not accept the decision of the TTD, resorted to a protest and entered into an altercation with the Srivari sevaks, TTD staff and the vigilance wing sleuths questioning the closure of the counters despite them waiting for hours in the queue.
Though the TTD staff clarify that the specified quota under the Rs 300 darshan was breached and as such the counters were closed in line with the procedures of the TTD, the devotees did not listen to them and continued their protests.
TTD Dy EO Chinnamgari Ramana who reached the spot along with other officials of the TTD and the vigilance pacified the agitating devotees and tried to take across the point to them. However, with the devotees refusing to budge, the Dy EO made arrangements to allow the devotees for darshan, amicably settling the issue.
