K Chandrasekhar Rao will consult industry to check corruption

A special ‘chasing cell’ will be set up to give approval to mega industries

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will seek suggestions from top industrialists regarding the precautions his government has to take to achieve it’s goal of “zero corruption” in industry approvals.

In an informal chat with the media on Saturday, Mr Rao said, “The investment climate in Telangana has been encouraging with several top industrialists of the country visiting Hyderabad to meet me during the last three weeks, keen to set up industries in the state. We want to devise an investor-friendly and zero corruption industrial policy for the Telangana state to see that all proposals from top firms are executed without any delay. Corruption took place as the industrialists had to run around tens of offices to secure nearly 30 approvals to set up industries. Now, we want to abolish this system and give approvals through a single-window system within two weeks without any political or bureaucratic corruption.”

Mr Rao also said that the government had received representations from industry bodies over relaxing norms to set up “mega industries” and it will be considered positively. The job of giving approvals to mega industries will be entrusted to a special “chasing cell” that is being set up in the Chief Minister’s Office.
