Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has decided focus on meeting farmers and women in his district tours. He will meet small and marginal farmers to learn their problems. According to sources, Mr Naidu will explain to the farmers and the women for reason for the delay in waiving their loans.
In some places, farmers have started demanding that loans be waived, as assured by Mr Naidu during the election campaign. Mr Naidu wants to ensure that farmers do not begin an agitation.
Mr Naidu has repeatedly stated that he is committed to waiving loans. When he meets farmers, sources said, he will explain what the government has taken, and the next stages in the loan waiver exercise. He will also explain that the state’s dire financial position is coming in the way of waiving farm loans right away.
Mr Naidu has decided to tour the districts every Wednesday and Thursday. He covered West Godavari district last week, and decided on meeting farmers and women during his subsequent tours after reviewing the outcome of his first visit.
