15 peafowls found dead in Allada
Hyderabad: Over 15 peafowls were found dead in Allada village in Chevella after they accidentally consumed pesticides and insecticide sprayed on corn fields on Sunday evening. Dead bodies of six peafowls were found in and around the area by forest department officials. The search for the rest of the bodies is on. Officials have sent the bodies for post-mortem and the reports will explain what impact the chemicals had on them. Mahesh Goud, section officer, Ranga Reddy division, Telangana forest department, who was at the rescue site said that the farm is located in Allada village, eight kilometres from Chevella. “Allada has a dense population of peafowls. They usually feed on crops. Some flew away after eating, while the remaining, which were around the area, died there itself. The farmer called us and informed about the incident. He had sprayed a few chemicals to keep pests from destroying the crops. They said they had seen over 15 of them, but so far we have found only six. The operations will continue till Monday to trace the rest of the bodies,” he said.
