Uttar Pradesh rape, murder of woman: Its not a gangrape, says cops
Lucknow: The UP police, on Sunday, blew to smithereens its own theories on the brutal rape and murder of a young widow in Mohanlalganj on July 17 and claimed to have solved the case.
The police arrested Ram Sevak Yadav, a private security guard working in the SGPGI and who lives in the same village where the crime took place, and told reporters that this was a one man operation and not a gang rape as stated earlier. The police also denied that rape had taken place in the case.
ADG Sutapa Sanyal, at a press conference on Sunday, said: “Ram Yadav wore a helmet so that the victim would not be able to see his face. He brought her to the primary school and when he took off his helmet, she saw him and threatened to teach him a lesson. Thereafter, he tried to molest her. When she resisted, he killed her.”
Meanwhile in Badaun the CBI’s effort to exhume the bodies of the gangrape victims of the two sisters, both minors, failed for the second time on Sunday with the Ganga swelling drastically. The probe agency said that graves were fully submerged in water and exhumation is not likely to take place in near future. It, however, met the doctors who conducted the first post-mortem.
