Heavy rain likely in Coastal Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: The IMD has predicted only cloudy skies “with possibility of rain” in the city for the next four to five days. Meteorologists are not expecting any rains despite overcast conditions in the city and much of Telangana prevailing for the last one week or so.
This is because the upper air circulations causing rain fall are not present over Telangana or Andhra Pradesh. Dr Y.K. Reddy, director, IMD Hyderabad, said, “Upper air circulation is present very far away in Madhya Pradesh so there is no consequent rainfall. Clouds had been there, but there were no rains because these were shallow clouds that do not cause rainfall.”
The IMD, however, has issued heavy rainfall warning for north coastal Andhra Pradesh. A low pressure system is also expected from there over the next couple of days. Meteorologists explained that there will not be immediate rainfall in Telangana due to the low pressure, but due to its proximity, only north coastal Andhra Pradesh will enjoy the benefits.
“The effect will be more towards north coastal AP. But depending on its movement over the next few days, we might get some rainfall,” Dr Reddy said.
Rainfall has been deficient by nearly 73 per cent in the last one week in Hyderabad, while deficit has hit about 27 per cent in Telangana.
