Never draw from my life: Sarika
Sarika’s new TV show with Amitabh Bachchan, Yudh, went on air last week. However, she hasn’t been able to catch any of the telecast episodes since she’s down with malaria and a throat infection. Still recovering, the actress took some time out to speak to us about her latest venture.
So what have the reactions to Yudh been like? “Friends tell me it is the quality of the show and the way it has been shot and edited that stands out. Even during the shoot, I felt like we were making a film, so I was in my comfort zone. The people involved — be it Mr Bachchan, Anurag Kashyap and others — tells you how the final product will turn out to be,” she says.
Incidentally, Sarika’s other project with Big B, Shoojit Sircar’s Shoebite, has been stuck with the censor board for a long time and hasn’t released yet. She says, “It hurts when a film we have worked on doesn’t get released.”
So how was it working with Mr Bachchan again? “I feel his energy level has gone up and I don’t know how!“On the sets he would be busy walking around, rehearsing his lines. It is a challenge to match up to his energy,”Sarika says.
Sarika plays mother to Aahana Kumra on the show; when asked if the on-screen relationship is similar to the off screen one she shares with her daughters Sarika says it isn’t. “I never draw parallels from my life because then I will be performing as Sarika and not my character, thus it will look repetitive in every project,” she explains.
