Just over 10 days remain to file your personal income tax returns -- by July 31 -- and this year it has become just a bit easier: MakeMyReturns.com, a Mumbai-based online tax filing service has created an app which allows owners of Android or Apple phones to prepare and file their own returns right from the handset. The user can create his/her account, fill in personal information, salary details, home loan or interest income if any, check their deductions and file their returns -- in less than 10 minutes.
They can also maintain a summary of their tax filing on the app itself. Every user is also provided customer service assistance right till the end of the process, whether they choose to self-file their income tax returns using the app (for which there is no charge) or ask for expert assistance which is available for a nominal fee of around Rs 250.
