Telangana Chief Minister sends out another name to Governor

CMO had failed to check her credentials before forwarding it to the Governor

Hyderabad: Maureen Hatch, a social activist from the city lost out on a golden opportunity to become the nominated MLA of the Telangana Legislative Assembly from the Anglo-Indian community, after she sent a wrong bio-data which forced Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to change his mind and recommend Royden Roch, another Anglo-Indian, name for the post.

It was Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, who discovered the ‘error’ while going through Maureen Hatch’s bio-data that came attached with the Chief Minister’s recommendation. The Governor returned the file to the Chief Minister for a ‘re-look’ when Mr Rao realised the lapse and decided to drop her name and recommended Mr Royden Roch’s name instead after taking the Cabinet’s approval on Wednesday. Ms Hatch had mistakenly attached the wrong bio-data addressed to Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and hailing him on his victory as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. She also claimed to be YSR Congress activist.

The CMO had failed to check her credentials before forwarding it to the Governor. Embarassed by the lapse, Mr Rao decided to recommend industrialist Mr Royden Roch in her place.

When contacted Mr Royden Roch confirmed that his name was recommended by the Chief Minister. He claimed he was associated with TRS activities for some time.

While Ms Hatch admitted her mistake, she said she had sent the correct document after discovering the error. However, her husband Larrey Hatch blamed officials who did not check it before sending the file to Raj Bhavan.
