Islamic State warns Muslim cartoonist
Kuwait City: The jihadist group Islamic State have threatened to kill Nayef Al-Mutawa, the creator of The 99 comic series, who, according to them, has been mocking Allah. “Who can kill Nayef Al-Mutawa who makes fun of Allah’s names? Whoever finds him, kill him, and he will be rewarded.” wrote the IS on its Twitter handle, says a report in Kuwait Times.
The 99 series is about a group of superheroes, each embodies one of the 99 attributes of Allah.
Replying to the threat, Mr Al-Mutawa wrote: “My work has glorified Islam from the US to China for the past ten years. I really do not believe in ISIL and Qaeda (sic)... I don’t care about them.” He said he had created the series with the explicit purpose of celebrating the “messages of tolerance and peace” in Islam.
