Didn’t know that the role in Money Ratnam was meant for Nazriya first: Niveda Thomas
The little girl has grown up to play lead roles opposite current heartthrobs
Kochi: After her much-appreciated performance as Jayaram’s daughter in Veruthe Oru Bharya which fetched her the Kerala State Film award for Best Child Artiste, Nivetha Thomas went on to act in lead roles opposite Kunchacko Boban in Romans and Jai in Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham (Tamil). The talented youngster has now bagged yet another lead role opposite Fahadh Faasil in Money Ratnam.
The buzz was that Nazriya was being cast opposite Fahadh in the film. “I didn’t know that the role was meant for Nazriya first. I came to know about it much later. I play a character called Piya, a social worker,” says the actor who will be seen in Malayalam films after two years.
Nivetha is acting with Fahadh for the second time. “I acted with Fahadh in Chaappa Kurishu. He is a cool actor with no qualms at all and I am eagerly looking forward to working with him again. Fahadh has shot for a few scenes and I will be joining the crew within four days.” The film is about how a person’s character undergoes change in the course of a trip. The film is being touted as a travel film.
The spunky actor has also bagged two films in Telugu as well. When quizzed about her Telugu skills, she says, “I didn’t learn the language as such. I learnt the dialogues on the sets while shooting. The film is titled Juliet – Love Of Idiot, where I play Juliet. It’s a thriller love story and I am looking forward to my entry in Tollywood.”
The transition from child artiste to a leading lady was not significant, says the young lady. “I didn’t find any difference. But my responsibility as an actor has increased. The love and care I receive from crew members is still the same.” Not for the glamour of working with big stars, Nivetha wants to play memorable ‘characters’ that will remain in people’s mind.
The actor who is doing her Bachelors in architecture in Chennai, has discovered the joy of multi-tasking. “There was a time when I believed I could do only one film a year. But now I am able to do more films in a year. Perhaps, I got this from my mother who is also a multi-tasker,” she chuckles. She also thanks her faculty members in college for their support. “Though it’s a very hectic course I love it and that’s why I chose it. I wanted to balance my studies and acting,” she says as a parting shot.
