Battleborn: Mix of casual & competitive
After giving gamers worldwide the brilliant Borderlands, Gearbox has set its sights on uncharted territory with their upcoming title Battleborn. A game inspired by numerous genres, it appears to be in essence a First Person Shooter and MOBA hybrid.
The core element of the game seems to be akin to most FPS’, wherein challenging heroes will battle each other head on in a battle for supremacy in varied battlegrounds, while NPC minions will duke it out in the background to add to the MOBA feel of things. The main MOBA element is incorporated in how each playable Hero will gain experience and level up 20 times during the course of each battle to unlock new abilities and play styles to help in battle.
The announcement trailer shows off a vivid and colourful world full of hectic fast paced action. This new game, being termed as a hobby-grade, hero shooter. For those who are confused, hobby grade games try to fuse elements of casual as well as competitive gaming to make the game experience even and enjoyable for both newcomers and veterans of the Genre.
The eye popping visuals combined with the engrossing action that Battleborn promises to deliver will be a great change from the stagnation that both the FPS and MOBA genres are suffering currently. The game is set to release after March 201. Hopefully, this game will achieve what it has set out to do and will be another masterpiece just like the Borderlands series.
