N Chandrababu Naidu plans LNG plant in Kakinada
Hyderabad: Gas Authority of India Limited has agreed to construct an LNG terminal at Kakinada. Gail chairman and managing director B.C. Tripathi met Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu at his camp office on Tuesday. Mr Naidu told him that the state Cabinet has decided to construct the LNG terminal at Kakinada with Gail as its partner.
The CM instructed Mr Tripathi to lay the gas grid pipelines from Srikakulam to Kakinada, Kakinada to Nellore and Tumkur to Nellore through Hindupur. In view of the recent gas leak incident in East Godavari district, Mr Naidu asked the Gail MD to start training centres to avoid accidents. Mr Tripathi agreed to the CM’s advice to pay Rs 2.5 lakh to the families of each victim, and '6,000 for every coconut tree damaged in the Nagaram mishap.
