The low pressure causing the rains is currently over Eastern Uttar Pradesh

Hyderabad: Heavy rains battered the city on Tuesday evening with some areas receiving more than 30 mm rainfall.

Areas including Secunderabad, Tarnaka, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Begumpet, Himayatnagar, Khairatabad, Shaikpet, Lower Tank Bund, and Ameerpet received heavy rainfall.

Several areas in central Hyderabad were waterlogged while many low- lying areas including Mayuri Marg, MS Maktha, Nadeem Colony, Rajendranagar, Attapur, Shivajinagar, Prabhakarnagar, Imtiaznagar and others waited for the water to recede.

Overflowing drains at some places caused panic.

Heavy traffic jams occurred at Panjagutta, Nampally, Red hills, RTC crossroads and Uppal due to water logging at these junctions.

Power cuts were reported in some places.

Met officials said the low pressure area now lies over East Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring areas.

Rain was also recorded at some places in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Telangana.

Bhadrachalam and Kalingapatnam recorded the highest rainfall at 37 mm and 34 mm respectively.
