2 killed, 7 injured in twin explosions in China: report

Beijing: At least two people were killed and seven others injured in separate explosions in China on Tuesday. An explosion took place in a passenger bus in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
"The blast went off on a bus that was in service on route 301 at around 7:30 pm. The flames had been put out and all the injured passengers were in hospital," a spokesman of Guangzhou's public security bureau said.
Two people were killed and six others injured in the explosion, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. A witness said the fully-packed bus had pulled over at Nandunhe stop on Guangzhou Avenue when the blast happened. Some passengers hurried out of the bus, while others were still on board.
"I heard a bang, and in five minutes, the bus was reduced to a frame," said a passenger. The blast and flames injured also passengers who were waiting at the bus stop.
Bus 301 runs on Guangzhou Avenue, a pivotal road linking the northern and southern parts of the city. Meanwhile, in another incident one person was slightly injured in an explosion at the parking lot of an airport in Xining of northwest China's Qinghai Province.
The injured person was stated to be a cleaner and sent to a hospital for treatment, Ma Yanqing, head of the airport's operation and management department said.
"The operation of the airport is normal now. No flights or passengers have been affected," Ma said. The official however declined to comment on if the explosion was a terrorist attack, but he said the provincial public security department will release the result of their investigation once it is completed.
