Shabbir Ali regrets Najma Heptullah’s remarks on reservations
Hyderabad: Congress deputy leader in Telangana Legislative Council and former Minister Md Shabbir Ali on Monday wrote to Union Minister for minority affairs Najma Heptullah, expressing his deep regrets over the controversial statements she allegedly made on providing reservations to Muslim minorities.
He pointed out that she lacked adequate knowledge on the subject despite being a senior minister. He attributed better lives of marginalised Muslims in the last decade to successful implementation of Muslim Reservations in AP since 2004.
He said so far 2000 poor Muslim students have become doctors, 12,415 have got admissions in B.Tech/B Pharma institutions, 5,975 students in MBA/MCA courses, 1840 in M.Tech/M.Pharma and 2,250 got admissions in B.Ed institutions all because of the reservations.
Besides, over thousands of Muslim youths have been recruited by all state government organisations from Group-1 to Class-4 employment.
And above all, 910 Muslims under BC-E category got elected to different posts in local body polls held recently, from mayor to councillors and from ZP chairman to gram sarpanch.
He requested Mr Najma Heptullah to make an honest study of the issue, instead of trying to please Prime Minister Narendra Modi by opposing Muslim reservation.
