Ponnala Lakshmaiah blames K Chandrasekhar Rao on Polavaram Bill

TPCC president blamed KCR for being complacent in his efforts to stall the Bill in Parliament

Hyderabad: Contradicting the allegations made by TRS leaders that the Congress was responsible for passing the Polavaram Bill in the Lok Sabha, TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Monday blamed Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for being complacent in his efforts to stall the Bill in Parliament.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Mr Lakshmaiah said it was Mr Rao who had told the Justice Srikrishna Committee that he only wanted the Telangana state that was in existence before the formation of Andhra Pradesh State on November 1, 1956.

He also pointed out that though Mr Rao had moved a statutory resolution in the Telangana Assembly against Polavaram Ordinance and had also promised to take anall party delegation to Delhi to meet the Prime Minster and others to represent the Telangana cause, he had failed to do so.

The Congress leader also alleged that the Chief Minister was present in the Lok Sabha at the time of the passing of the AP Reorganisation Bill, and yet he had had not raised his voice against inclusion of sev-en mandals of Khamm-am into Seemandhra.

While his AP counterpart Chandrababu Naidu had made all efforts and succeeded in getting the Ordinance turned into a Bill, Mr Rao decided to stay put in Hydera-bad instead of lobbying for the Telangana cause in Delhi.

He instead send his MPs, which is highly objectionable, said Mr Lakshmaiah.
