Changes in Motor Vehicle Act delayed

Government said that it would need another three months to complete the exercise

New Delhi: After having gone on an overdrive to amend the Motor Vehicle Act following death of former Union minister Gopinath Munde in a road accident in the national capital, the government on Monday said that it would need another three months to complete the exercise to bring the law at par with international standards.

“We need three months to study the Motor Vehicle Act in its totality. We will try and bring amendment to the law in Parliament in its next session,” said Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari.

He also added that the amended law would be at par with international laws. The Centre had moved an amendment to the Motor Vehicle Act earlier also.
