Shiv Sena asks govt to step-in on report of Mumbai youths joining ISIS

Reportedly, 2 youngsters from Mumbai are believed to have joined the ISIS militants

Mumbai: Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Monday asked the Maharashtra government to act on a media report that four youths from the region are believed to have joined militants in Iraq.

"The newspaper report is a very serious issue and the state government should take appropriate action in the matter. The government also kept quiet in the Ishrat Jahan (encounter case) matter. Will the state government act in this case at least?" Uddhav asked.

According to a newspaper report, two youngsters from the Mumbai region are believed to have joined the ISIS militants to fight government forces in Iraq.

These two boys are part of the 18 Indians said to be fighting in Iraq and are being tracked by intelligence agencies.

Reportedly, the security establishment say most of these 18 are from south India and some have been identified from Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who recently declared himself as the Caliph of Islamic State, has asked Indian Muslims to wage war against the nation in an audio message.
