Cops book case against legislator

T Raja Singh was earlier booked for several hate speeches and communal riot

Hyderabad: Tense situation prevailed at Sitarambagh in Mangalhat on Sunday evening when a mob, under the leadership of Goshamahal legislator T. Raja Sigh, and a police force from West Zone nearly came to blows regarding illegal construction of a religious structure.

Mangalhat police booked a case against the MLA and his aides for trespassing, damaging public property and for violating prohibitory orders. West Zone DCP Satyanarayana said the police will take strict measures to stop communal forces, and would ensure peace and tranquility in the area on the eve Ramzan and Bonalu.

Clashes erupted when a local committee started constructing a religious structure on a government land beside the road in Sitarambagh and was interrupted by another group in the area. “We reached the spot soon after coming to know about the incident. Since the construction was illegal and was on GHMC land, we asked the committee to stop the construction. They stopped it and removed the newly constructed structure,” said West Zone DCP Mr. Satyanarayana.

After a brief lull, Mr Raja Singh, who was earlier booked for several hate speeches and communal riot, came to the area with 20 of his aides. “Raja Singh came to the spot and restarted the construction again without any permission. We again intervened in the matter and thwarted their attempts,” said Mr. Satyanarayana.

Mr Raja Singh and his aides argued with the police and additional forces were called tackle the mob. “We have now deployed a platoon of Rapid Action Force and CRPF in order to ensure peace and tranquility in the area,” said the West Zone DCP.
