Telangana decides to seize unused land

10,582 acres of unused land in Ranga Reddy district will be taken by government

Hyderabad: In a move to promote industrialisation in the state and make sufficient land available for establishments, the state government has directed officials to confiscate the lands that have been left unused by various public and private organisations after allotment.

Over 10,582 acres of land in Ranga Reddy district, that remained unused from the prior allotments to different public organisations, will be taken by the state government. Also identified were 8,023 acres of unused land lying idle with the Bhoodan Yagna Board.

The Chief Commissioner for Land Administration (CCLA), S.K. Sinha, has directed the district revenue officials to initiate measures to confiscate the unused land so that they can be reassigned to various industries.

In order to get things moving faster, Mr Sinha is likely to hold a meeting with heads of the departments that have been allotted lands.

The government bodies include AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIIC), Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Deccan Infrastructure and Land Holdings Limited (DILL), Rajiv Swagruha and Housing Corporation, the primary allottees of the government land.

A total of 44,000 acres of land had been earmarked for allotment to various organisations over 20-30 years, out of which 10,852 acres remain unused, said officials.
