Private schools seek fee hike
Hyderabad: Private schools in the state on Friday sought an increase in the fee structure. The schools opposed the decision of the government to implement GO No. 42 issued in 2010 prescribing an annual fee structure between Rs 9,000 and Rs 12,000.
The school representatives wanted the government to prescribe fees taking into account the inflation in the past four years. “The expenditure incurred to run a school has increased three to four times since 2010 due to increase in salaries, power tariff, property tax etc.” said S. Sreenivas Reddy, president, Telangana Recognised Private School Managements’ Association.
The representatives met principal secretary, education, Vikas Raj. They urged the state to seek income/expenditure statements from each school and prescribe fees accordingly.
