Opposition wants discussion on Iraq
Hundreds of Indians still believed to be stuck in Iraq
New Delhi: With hundreds of Indians still believed to be stuck in Iraq, after an outbreak of violence there, the Opposition on Friday demanded a response from the Centre in Rajya Sabha on the issue. MPs from several parties also sought data on how many Indians were still stuck and asked the Centre to show urgency in the matter as was shown during the Gulf war.
Raising the issue in RS during Zero Hour, KN Balagopal (CPI-M) said the Centre should hold a discussion on the Iraq issue. He said that there are still a few Indian labourers working in Iraq.
