Government informs Parliament that acquisition of ULH has not progressed due to “cost issues”

New Delhi: In what will be a blow to the Army’s plans for modernisation of its artillery through acquisition of ultra-light howitzer guns from the US that are ideal for mountain warfare, the government on Friday informed Parliament that the proposed acquisition of ULH has not progressed due to factors including “cost issues”.
Earlier it was reported that the Army would have to wait longer for this acquisition but the waiting has only increased. There was good news for the Navy with India’s first fully-indigenously built major warship, the anti-submarine corvette INS Kamorta was set to be handed over by the Garden Reach Shipbuilders.
