Free booklet on school fees
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad collector has initiated stringent moves to ensure that private schools do not charge higher than the fixed fee structure. Of the total 2,000 schools in Hyderabad district, the district administration has collected the fee structures of 1,800 private schools and will soon gather the remaining and put them up in public domain.
“We will print the fee structure details of all the schools in a booklet and distribute them free of cost. At the same time, we will also put up hoardings with details of the fee structure of a particular school outside the school building and also update the figures on government websites. If parents find that the school is charging more than the mentioned fee structure, they can complain at the special complaint cell in our office,” said Hyderabad collector M.K. Meena.
As per GOs 40 and 42, the District Fee Regulatory Committee has fixed an annual maximum ceiling limit of Rs 9,000 for primary and Rs 12,000 for High School students.
“Usually most schools were found to be charging much higher than the fee slabs mentioned, the fees ranged from Rs 20,000-Rs 50,000,” said an official, and added, “The fee structure includes library fees, tuition fees etc., which most schools were found to be charging additionally. Even capitation fees charged in the name of sports facilities, labs etc. by the school management should be passed by the DFRC. Only then should the schools collect it from the students,” he added.
In case the schools want to implement a higher fee structure, they need to get prior approval from the DFRC citing valid reasons. This move of the district administration will come into effect in a week’s time.
