APERC still sits on new tariff
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has not come up with any new directive on tariff proposals and going by the rule, the Commission is mandated to give its order within 120 days of filing of the proposals.
The tariff proposals filed by discoms in April were rejected by the Commission saying that the discoms proposal is not valid post bifurcation. The 120-day period will be over in July-end and the Annual Revenue Requirement proposals for the next year will have to be filed by November.
While there is only one month for tariff orders to be given for the current year, the discoms are in a state of confusion over filing the revised orders.
The vacuum in the directive will lead to legal complications and there is no clarity even on the formation of separate Electricity Regulatory Commission’s for both the states.
